Beste Rob,

We fully understand how disappointing and frustrating the situation surrounding the confiscated project in Egypt is. It is also painful for us to acknowledge that all the work, effort, and hope we shared have ultimately not led to the desired outcome.
At a certain point, we received word that the project might be confiscated by the TDA. If this had been officially communicated to El-Sharkawi in a timely manner, our lawyer should have ceased all efforts immediately. To gain clarity, we requested evidence from our lawyer and even consulted an independent Egyptian legal expert. This second opinion yielded no confirmation of an official confiscation. It was only later that we received a document via our lawyer confirming the situation — this has since been translated and shared within this closed dossier.
Unfortunately, throughout this entire process we were faced with poor communication from the TDA and a system that lacks transparency and integrity. Despite our persistent efforts, lobbying, additional investments, and commitment, we were unable to change the course. Our lawyer ultimately withdrew, recognizing that further action would be in vain.
We have long been aware that the risk of confiscation was real. We tried to delay the process as much as possible, but without any guarantee of success, continued investments were no longer justifiable.
It is deeply disheartening to conclude that a combination of corruption, political stagnation, a deteriorating investment climate, and weak legal protections have rendered this project, despite everyone’s best intentions, no longer viable. We sincerely regret this outcome.
Thank you for your trust, your patience, and your involvement. If there are any questions or a need for further clarification, we are of course available.
